Started in 2013, Rotten Wood Works is an online marketplace for wood items made from decaying or rotting wood. Ron Janoski is a retired photographer and experienced wood crafter. While often seen as a sign of decay, rotting wood can be surprisingly beautiful, both in its visual patterns and its role in the ecosystem. Spalted wood, for example, develops unique and striking patterns as fungi decompose the wood, making it prized by woodworkers.
